Principal Investigator

Dr. Amit Jariwala

Dr. Amit Jariwala works to support experiential, entrepreneurial, and innovative learning experiences within the school’s academic curriculum. He is a Woodruff School Teaching Fellow and directs the operations of the Institute-wide Georgia Tech Capstone Design Expo. He serves as the faculty advisor for Georgia Tech’s Flowers Invention Studio. Dr. Jariwala’s research interests are in the field of makerspaces, evidence-based design education, and advanced additive manufacturing process. He leads the SMART^3 Makerspaces VIP team and focuses on research and development to enable the creation of intelligent systems to manage and maintain makerspaces.

Graduate Students

Ojasw Upadhyay

Ojasw is a master’s student in Computer Science with a concentration in Machine Learning. He’s working on leading the VIP’s main projects and working with the College of Engineering to improve makerspace and course experiences with machine learning and computer vision.

Undergraduate Students

Rahul Gupta

Rahul, a 2nd-year Mechanical Engineering student, leads MATRIX research, previously responsible for developing a low-cost sensor suite for machine analytics with a focus on usage, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance. He uses Python for data analysis and has experience in design, prototyping, CAD, hands-on fabrication, and CNC machining in his projects. Cole Gensheimer

Cole is an undergraduate computer science major here at GT with experience as a full stack developer. He grew up in Savannah Georgia. He enjoys riding, racing, soccer, meeting new people and exploring new technologies.

Austin Chen

Max Kornegay

Max Kornegay is a third year mechanical engineering student from Marietta, Georgia. He has interned with both GTRI focusing on robotic elderly assistance and KSU focusing on makerspace accessibility. When not in the classroom, he is frequently either in the pool playing water polo or making Star Wars cosplay props.

William Chin

William Chin is a junior computer science student with threads in systems and architecture and intelligence. He is part of the team focused on developing software for the campus makerspaces, helping to improve the user experience and data management for these creative spaces.
